Comment Policy

At OMFGay we aim to share news that is relevant, timely, and above all else, reflective of the compassionate, knowledgeable, and open audience we serve.

With that being said, we do adhere to a very strict comment policy to keep this website a safe place for all. Whether you’re new to this site or a returning reader, these rules apply to you, and failure to follow them will result in you being blocked.

• We only accept and approve comments from registered Disqus users. Registered users must verify their email address before posting comments.
• If your comment contains any of our flagged or restricted words, your comment will be flagged and you’ll probably be blocked.
• Thoughtful dialogue and discussions are encouraged, but please remember that conversations must stay on topic and that insulting or targeting a person who disagrees with you is prohibited.
• Always be respectful towards both the writer and other commenters.
• Hate speech and gaslighting are non-starters here and you will be blocked. This includes racist, gendered, ableist, ageist, homophobic and transphobic slurs.
• Attacking someone for their religious beliefs is prohibited.
• Jokes about rape and sexual assault are huge fucking no-nos here… and anywhere.
• Think somethings going to get you flagged and blocked? You’re probably right, so don’t say it or type it.

These rules can and will be amended at any time. It’s your responsibility as a citizen of the internet to make sure you’re conforming to them and that what you’re bringing to the table is constructive.

If you log on every day thinking you’re going to save everyone with your opinions or that everyone else around you is somehow lacking, then you’re probably the problem.
