I’m in gay tears right now because the undisputed Princess of Pop, the legendary Britney Spears, has announced that she’s canceling her upcoming Las Vegas residency, ‘Britney: Domination.’
In an unexpected Instagram post, Spears told fans that the cancellation has been made due to her father’s ailing health, prompting her to focus more of her time on her family.
“I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination,” the ‘Toxic’ singer wrote. “I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on britneyspears.com. I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.”
According to a press release obtained by CNN, her father Jamie Spears, was hospitalized due to his colon ‘spontaneously’ rupturing. He then spend “28 days at the Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas and is now recovering at home.”
‘Britney: Domination,’ which was scheduled to begin on February 13, 2019, was to be Spears’ second Las Vegas residency. The first, ‘Britney: Piece of Me,’ ran for four years, with close to 250 performances. It grossed nearly $138 million.
We’re wishing Jamie a speedy recovery!
